It's always a wonderful thing when you find that your day job affords you the opportunity to make new work. You stop yourself in the midst of it all and think to yourself, “I’m totally getting paid to do what I love right now!” And you smile and continue on, forgetting about all the other days you aren’t able to do this.
Just like the photos below, this illustration was made during one of said times. Even though I rebel at the thought of making signs for holidays months away, I enjoyed putting together this pattern of cliché and not-so-cliché items that make me think – Dad. Specifically – my dad.
Okay. So he doesn’t eat that much fast food or red meat. He doesn’t play golf. I have never nor ever expect to see him reading the New York Times. Dumbbells? Come on. But when I look at this pattern I smile and chuckle in the same way that I do when I think of those endearing, quirky and sometimes embarrassing things that are unique to my father. Happy Father’s Day Daddy O! A month early.
